Smoke Signals (1998) is the story of two young Coeur d' Alene Indian men with a complicated history: Victor’s dad, Arnold, rescued Thomas from a fire when he was a child. Thomas thinks of Arnold as a hero, while Victor resents his father's alcoholism, violence, and abandonment of his family. This coming-of-age film is adapted by Sherman Alexie from his book The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven.
The screening is free and open to the community thanks to the sponsorship of USD Native Student Services.
